Cytotoxicity Comparison of a Calcium Silicate-Based Resin Cement versus Conventional Self-Adhesive Resin Cement and a Resin-Modified Glass Ionomer: Cell Viability Analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Objective: To compare the cytotoxicity level of a new calcium silicate-based resin cement (TheraCem) with two commonly used cements, including conventional self-adhesive (Panavia SA) and resinmodified glass ionomer (FujiCem2), on human gingival fibroblast cells after 24 48 hours. Material Methods: Twelve discs each type were fabricated. The extract disks was made by incubating them in cell medium. Human cultured exposed to extracts for h h. MTT assay performed optical density viability rates calculated spectrophotometer device at 570 nm. Data analyzed using ANOVA Tukey HSD tests. Results: hours as follows: TheraCem: 89.24% 85.46%, Panavia SA: 49.51% 46.57% FujiCem2: 50.63% 47.36%. TheraCem represented highest rate. However, no significant difference noted between SA FujiCem2. Time had effect viability. Conclusion: exhibited best results among three tested cements considered non-toxic. FujiCem2 not significantly different regarding cements.

Shear bond strength evaluation of resin composite to resin-modified glass-ionomer cement using three different resin adhesives vs. glass-ionomer based adhesive
Background: The clinical success of sandwich technique depends on the strength of resin-modified glass ionomer cement (RMGIC) bonding to both dentin and resin composite. Therefore, the shear bond strength (SBS) of resin composite bonded to RMGIC utilizing different resin adhesives versus a GIC-based adhesive was compared. Materials and methods: In this in vitro study, 84 holes (5×2 mm) were pre...
متن کاملComparison of the solubility of three resin cements and a resin-modified glass ionomer cement: An in vitro study
Background and aims: Solubility is an important property of luting cements in determining clinical durability. The aim of this study was to compare the solubility of Panavia, Calibra and Maxcem resin cements with that of GC Fuji PLUS resin modified glass ionomer cement in three different pH values. Materials and Methods: A total of 96 specimens were prepared (8mm diameter, 4mm thickness) accor...
متن کاملNetwork competition in a resin-modified glass-ionomer cement.
UNLABELLED Attempts have been made to improve the mechanical properties and convenience of use of glass-ionomer cement (GIC) by various modifications, in particular by including a free radical-polymerizable component ("resin-modified" GIC, RMGIC). Necessarily, the one replaces part of the other, but the chemistry suggests that the formation of each network separately would inhibit diffusion and...
متن کاملClinical efficacy of the conventional glass ionomer cement and resin modified glass ionomer cement in primary molars.
BACKGROUND Dental caries is the most prevalent communicable disease in the world amongst the population of the children. OBJECTIVE To compare the outcome of restorations in primary molars using two Glass ionomer cements Ketac-Molar, a Glass ionomer cement (GIC) and Vitremer, a Resin modified glass ionomer cement (RMGIC) in small and medium sized cavities. METHODOLOGY A randomized controlled...
متن کاملFracture Strength of Severely Damaged Primary Anterior Teeth after Restoration with Composite Resin and Resin-Modified Glass Ionomer Cement
Background and Aim: Restoration of primary anterior teeth with severe caries extending to the gingival margin is challenging for many clinicians especially in uncooperative children. Resin modified glass ionomer cements (RMGICs) can be suitable for use in such cases since they require fewer application steps than composite resins. This study aimed to assess the fracture strength of severely dam...
